Last night was my very very first time on air EVER, and I think Spaceman Stuckey and I killed it. If you missed it, you ma'am/sir wasted what could have been the best three hours of your life. But because I am a Capitana and not a jerk I will not hunt you down for it (for now.)
Before I begin I would like to thank Chris Parker for introducing our show and putting me on the spot by interviewing me. I'd also like to thank Dr. Science for not giving me the formula to solve his identity...Dr. Science, I will figure it out, I don't care what you think.
After buckling up tight the spaceship took off and we were on our way to the jungle.
Spaceman Stuckey and I began with La Piedra Lisa (The Smooth Stone) in Colima, Mexico, a cultural symbol in the city. According to legend, the boulder was shot out from the Volcan de Colima( one of the few volcanoes in Mexico) millions of years ago and landed right were it is now. One side of the boulder is rough and the other side is smooth making a perfect slide. Based on my Abuelitas knowledge, once you slide down La Piedra Lisa you are destined to return to Colima. Year round there are hundreds of people that have the amazing opportunity to climb and slide it including children and adults. However, corrupt cold-hearted politicians in the city have decided to build a museum of science and technology around the stone. Not only would they be removing a significant cultural symbol but also tax the people to build it. It would cost the citizens of Colima 85 million pesos (6.6 million dollars), and who would be taxed? The people that barely make minimum wage. We asked for your thoughts and we would like to receive more because this is honestly bullshit, the stone is also part of my culture and I will never get to see it again. So FUCK YOU all you damn bastard politicians.
On a happier note Spaceman and I went with the flow of things...everything, absolutely everything else was made up on the spot. We are good aren't we? After jamming to Sigur Ros, one of my favorite bands from Iceland, I mentioned how I'd like to learn Icelandic. I remembered a documentary I watched a while back where one of the smartest men in the world learned the Icelandic language in one week. He also learned the Pi to the very last digit. We tried doing the same only resulting in complete failure partly because I was starving and the conversation about Pi did not make it better (no pun intended). I'm not a big pie girl personally, cake is my preference. What flavor? Carrot cake.
We gave shout outs, took calls and requests, asked for your thoughts, asked for a bus schedule that would take us back home which we would like to thank our floormate Stephanie for doing. Our first night on air was a success, minus a program malfunction. I am always accepting shit from yall so seriously don't hesitate to email me for ANY reason (graciewerw@gmail.com). I love socializing.
Tune in next Friday from 10pm to 1 am. Itunes radio-> college/university -> WERW Syracuse University
